I am pleased to announce one of my latest sculptures from my Hand Tool series has been juried into After the Pedestal: 11th exhibition of small sculptures from the region. This juror for this year's show is Cathleen Chaffee, Chief Curator at the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo, NY. The exhibit will be held at the Sculpture Center, 1834 E. 123rd St. Cleveland, Ohio 44106. Opening reception on Friday, June 22nd from 5:30 to 8 pm, with artist talks starting at 6:15. The exhibit will be on view June 22 through August 17, 2018.
This photo shows a detail of the beadwork assemblage, which includes 22kt gold fumed glass beads and intricate thread wrapping. The piece is welded to its steel base using skills I developed last summer in a continuing education class at the Cleveland Institute of Art. The full piece is shown below. It is 19" x 3.75" x 3.75".
